Mobile Phone Radiation

The harmful effects of mobile phone radiation

What began in the late 1990s has now completely moved into all areas of our lives: mobile communication via mobile phone and smartphone as well as wireless information transmission with WLAN and related technologies. Apart from the fact that permanent availability is stressful, and for this reason alone, already a big health risk, the pulsed high-frequency radio radiation, which we often expose ourselves more or less voluntarily around the clock, increases this health risk.

Health risks from mobile phones even below the safety limits

Many studies have now shown that the radiation of wireless technologies below the legal safety limits can influence physical functions. For example, DNA damage, increased tumour risk, weakening of the immune system, changes in brain waves as well as cell, embryo and sperm damage were found. Also sleep disorders, headaches, depression, learning difficulties and finally memory disorders.

Meanwhile recent research has brought forward interesting results: in that high-frequency, pulsed radiation produces oxidative stress in the cells. Many researchers have now agreed that the oxidative stress is the reason for many physical and even psychological disturbances of our modern Western civilisations, including neurodegenerative and cardiovascular diseases, as well as chronic fatigue and burnout syndrome.

Furthermore, there is proof that the pulsed, high-frequency radiation from WLAN, mobile phones, and cordless phones, generally generates physiological stress. The “fight or retrieve” reaction of the body is activated, and thus the distribution of stress hormones. With this constant stress, the human body cannot return to its natural balance, with fatal consequences to its health.

Keep mobile phones away from your head

Every inch makes a difference! Because the radiation exposure decreases in the square to the distance. The farther away the mobile phone is from the head, the better. The best way to create a distance is to use a suitable headset. But beware! Not every headset really reduces the radiation.

Headset with air-conductor technology

All wired headsets take up the high frequency radiation of the mobile phone antenna and guide it to the ear. Measurements have shown that although only 5 to 20% of the radiation in the headphones arrives, however, as the position of the headphone is directly in the ear, you are closer to the sensitive brain.

Moreover, the shield by the skull bone is less here and often produces a similar and even sometimes higher exposure than if you hold your mobile phone directly on your ear. This was also confirmed by the study of a British consumer organization that came to the same conclusion.

It is therefore very important to make sure to use a headset with air conductor technology. Here, the transmission of the radiation is interrupted by an air tube. The air conducts the sound, but not the radiation.

Avoid areas with bad mobile phone reception

In cars, buses and trains, the electromagnetic waves are strongly attenuated by the metallic outer casings. Here, the phone needs to increase its power to get a connection, and the radiation exposure increases accordingly. The same happens in tunnels, cellars and other places with poor reception. Here you should avoid making a phone call.

The effect on blood

By measuring the brain waves, it was possible to prove that various essential values in the body are changing. On the one hand, the pulsed radiation of both mobile phones and cordless phones (DECT) can influences the brain waves. On the other hand, blood flow and temperature of the skin will change and deviate from the normal value.

For example, a three minute conversation with a mobile phone can disorganize the blood cells. This means that the prior to the call floating red blood cells, have lost their polarity and integrity and are clumping together, resulting in an increased risk of thrombosis (clotting of the blood), heart attacks and strokes. After a 3 minute phone call a healthy person will require at least 30 minutes for the red blood cells to recover.

Disturbance of melatonin production

It is a proven fact that electromagnetic radiation can significantly reduce the production of melatonin, redistributed in the body or decomposed faster than normal.

Melatonin is a hormone of the pineal gland. Among other things, it boosts the immune system and hinders the growth of certain tumours. Therefore a melatonin deficiency will weaken the immune system, and could increase the risk of tumours. Melatonin also reduces the production of oestrogen and Testosterone, which in return gives some protection against the growth of hormone-dependent tumours such as breast, uterus or prostate cancer.
