Guidance for the safe use of your BioLicht bulbs
To enjoy your lighting for years to come, please follow the guidance below. It supports safe, reliable operation and helps you identify possible causes of faults.
Do Not Use with Dimmers
These bulbs are not dimmable and must never be used with a dimmer switch – even at full brightness. Using a dimmer can permanently damage the bulb.
Check the Lamp Holder
Before fitting a bulb, check that the lamp holder is in good condition. Older or worn lamp holders can cause poor electrical contact, which may result in flickering.
If this happens, switch off the light, disconnect it from the power supply and allow the bulb to cool. Carefully remove the bulb and refit it. This may improve the contact. If the flickering persists, have the lamp holder checked by a qualified professional.
Allow Adequate Cooling
Avoid using these bulbs in fully enclosed light fittings. Heat can build up inside the enclosure and shorten the bulb’s lifespan.
The maximum wattage marked on older light fittings often refers to incandescent bulbs and cannot be applied directly to LED bulbs.
According to the manufacturer’s guidance, use the following rule of thumb: divide the light fitting’s maximum rated wattage by 8.
- 40 W rating: maximum 5 W LED bulb
- 60 W rating: maximum 7.5 W LED bulb – an 8 W bulb already exceeds this guideline.
Always also follow the instructions for the particular light fitting and bulb.
Fit with Care
Some bulbs have a glass body that may break or shatter if handled incorrectly.
Fit bulbs with E27, E14 or GU10 bases carefully and without excessive force. Avoid inserting them at an angle or overtightening them, as this may loosen the base or damage the bulb.
Careful handling helps ensure reliable lighting and lasting enjoyment of your bulbs.
